Another appetizer I had at my fave wine bar, which I recreated to the best of my ability for the party.
1 loaf crusty bread
3 ripe avocados
pistachio, shelled
very good olive oil
salt
Heat up bread in oven so it’s toasty. Toast nuts in a skillet.
To assemble, top a slice of bread with sliced avocado, a sprinkling of nuts and a drizzle of olive oil, plus salt to taste.
I liked this better the second incarnation with walnuts instead of pistachios . . . though that may have just been because the avocado in the second batch was better.
My favorite incarnation of bread and avocado involves the hatch green chili bread from Trader Joe’s.
