I’m not going to lie and pretend this has the same depth of flavor that a traditional gumbo has. But it was really satisfying for the points involved. Plus it used up all of the dreaded okra. I’m still not a fan.

Ground Cherry and Yellow Tomato Bruschetta
So I had no idea what ground cherries were until we got them in the CSA. Apparently they’re kind of like a gooseberry or a tomatillo, depending on who you talk to. But they’re at least semi sweet? Anyway, they worked quite well in this preparation. Sadly, I accidentally dumped half the topping onto the floor, so it didn’t go very far…
