Loved the sauce for this dish (based on Emeril’s recipe). The shrimp I bought from the store, however, were not very good, bringing down the meal a bit. I ate the leftovers sans shrimp.

Scallops Piccata
Oh, I love scallops. Even if I paid like $16 for 12 oz. worth at Whole Foods. What the hell.
Anyway, I decided to try out a Cooking Light recipe on these ones. Two notes. 1) This was a little caper-tastic (given, I’m not a huge capers person). I’d probably halve the amount next time around. [...]

Alton’s Gumbo
Gumbo – talk about satisfying. This recipe, I will say, takes forver, but it’s really not all that labor intensive if you think about it.

Garlic Shrimp

Scampi-style shrimp with peas and pasta
My refrigerator is turning into the place where produce goes to die.
Ive been at John’s most of the time lately, so I returned tonight to cook to find basically all of my fresh produce rotting. Ew.
So yeah, tonight’s meal wasn’t going to be all that veggie-heavy. The solution? A basic shrimp scampi with pasta and [...]

Shrimp with beans and tomatillos
Well, I achieved one of my summer food goals…cooking with tomatillos. I’m not sure I’ve ever even tasted tomatillos before this. They were more citrusy than I expected. I will say, though, despite the flavors not being what I was going for, I thought this recipe ultimately worked pretty well.
