Crock Pot Apple Sauce

Note: Do NOT blend applesauce with immersion blender, like some of us who want to play with our new toy. It will result in a strangely baby food-style consistency. Just mash a little with a fork, and you’re golden.

3 large Staymen apples

1 gala apple

1/3 cup water

1/3 cup sugar

Vietnamese cinnamon, to taste

Cut apples into chunks. Add with other ingredients to crock pot. Cook on 8 hours on low. Mash with fork and remove from crock – allow to cool.

    If you like crock pot apple stuff, try pork chops and apples!

    2 pork chops, browned
    2 baking apples (honeycrisp and winesap are really good), cored and sliced (not peeled, unless you’re not into apple skins)
    1/4 cup raisins, Craisins, or currants
    1 tblsp lemon juice
    1/4 cup brown sugar

    Put browned chops in crock pot. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours, or on high 3 to 4 hours.

    Super tasty!

    Oh, not CRAZY sweet. Not as sweet as, say, apple pie filling over your meat. The apples retain their tartness pretty well (depending on what kind you use), and they taste really good with the chops. I suppose you could reduce how much brown sugar you use, if you’re concerned about sweetness.
