Mom’s French Onion Short Ribs

Another Frederick family meal that I remember Mom taking the crock pot out for regularly. These are simple but have very good flavor. I think I would adapt this to the pressure cooker if I made them again (to try to make sure all the fat got rendered) and potentially serve next-day as I like to do with short ribs (to help better degrease the sauce). But we would totally have them again beyond that.

Ginger Steak Salad

I could have sworn this was on my site because I’ve made it before, but no dice. I like this dressing and marinade from Pioneer Woman, though I usually take a clean-out-the-fridge approach towards what vegetables I include in the salad.

Charred Broccoli with Peanuts

This recipe made the rounds of my cooking friends this year, started by my friend Becky, convincing us all to buy nutritional yeast (which, turns out, I like on popcorn). Really good! So good I’m making it again this week. I halved this recipe because I was low on broccoli without issue.

Pressure Cooker Chicken Soup with Dill and Orzo

This chicken soup recipe from Melissa Clark’s new pressure cooker cookbook isn’t dramatically different than how I tend to make chicken soup. But it’s good to have a go-to standard recipe for the Instant Pot. This makes a very rich, gelatinous broth.
